How VPE Processes Your Stream

The entire process takes less than 120 milliseconds. By the time a big donation lands, VPE has already figured out the perfect celebration to show and sent the command to OBS.

You don't need to configure any of this manually. VPE comes with smart defaults that work out of the box. But if you want to fine-tune how it behaves, every part of the process is customizable from the settings panel.

VPE connects to your streaming platforms (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram) and listens for everything that happens: chat messages, donations, subscriptions, follows, raids, and more.

Raw events are normalized into a common format regardless of which platform they come from. A Twitch cheer, a YouTube Super Chat, and a TikTok gift all register as donations with the right value attached.

VPE also tracks patterns over time — not just individual events. It notices when chat is speeding up, when donations are clustering together, or when viewer count is climbing steadily.

VPE doesn't just react to individual events. It builds a live picture of your stream's mood and energy level by combining everything that's happening into a few key scores: energy, hype, engagement, generosity, and more.

Based on these scores, VPE determines the overall vibe of your stream at any given moment — is it chill, energetic, or chaotic? Is the audience celebrating, engaged, or winding down?

This understanding adapts in real time. If chat suddenly explodes, VPE recognizes the shift within seconds and adjusts its behavior accordingly. It also detects standout moments like a massive donation or a sudden chat spike.

Once VPE understands what's happening, it checks your automation rules to figure out which effects should fire. For example: 'When there's a big donation during a hype moment, play the confetti celebration.'

VPE is smart about pacing. It won't spam your stream with effects, even during intense moments like a donation train. Built-in budgets and cooldowns ensure effects fire at a natural rhythm.

The stream's current mood influences which effects get priority. During calm moments, subtle effects shine. During hype moments, the big celebrations take center stage. This happens automatically.

Approved effects are sent to OBS (or any connected output) instantly. A single effect can trigger multiple things at once — an overlay animation, a sound effect, and a text notification all firing together.

VPE manages what's on screen so effects don't collide. Overlays replace each other cleanly, sound effects queue up and play in order, and text notifications can stack without conflict.

Important effects are protected. If a big raid celebration is playing, a lower-priority effect won't cut it short. VPE respects the moment and queues the next effect for when the current one finishes.
